Codeine at the Hospital

Ok I rarely post on here and I suffer from social anxiety and general anxiety I had a panic attack six months ago and for the first time went to the hospital (in a ambulance) :blush:

Anyway they did all the usual checks and said I was fine I just had a panic attack, They have me two codeine tablets (not sure the strength) but it just calmed me down to the point I had zero anxiety anymore.

Why did it work so well?, Has anyone else found codeine to be great for anxiety?

I'm a bit surprised they gave you codeine for anxiety.
It is a pain killer and I take it quite regularly for back pain, it cause relaxation and sedation as a side effect. I believe it is convered into morphine by the body.
