So I have small hard lumps in my skin (literally just underneath the surface attached to the underside) on the side and back of my neck, they are all well under a cm. Have been to my GP who said that it was caused by sub surface acne. He called them "superficial lumps". He gave me antibiotics and told me to come back in two weeks. The lumps haven't gone, more have come up actually. (I should mention I literally have not stopped trying to squeeze them at all, I do it constantly)

I've started getting a weird head pressure and groggy feeling, which I explained to my doctor when I went back. He then felt my neck again and said he would send me to get them extracted and examined for peace of mind. He was very hesitant to use the word biopsy. When I pushed he said yes that's what it is. He said if he was me that he wouldn't worry and it was completley for my peace of mind. If he suspected it whatsoever he wouldn't be able to tell me it was for peace of mind and not to worry wouldn't he? He'd have to say if he had any suspicion?

I should also mention that my doctor has booked me an appointment with a dermatologist in October. He wouldn't do that if he suspected cancer just to calm me down, would he?

He's doing this to reassure you, for your "peace of mind". Those are your words. Hopefully, it will do just that and you can put this behind you. FYI, what you describe doesn't remotely point to lymphoma.

I know, I know. It's so hard to accept that though. 3 weeks ago I wanted a biopsy! Now that I've been given one I keep thinking that it means the doctor thinks there's something wrong. Even though he has said he's doing it for peace of mind.

I have really bad acne, well acne, backne ... The list goes on. I get really big lumps caused by acne which can be quite deep under the skin. If he suspected a cancer you would see a specialist within 2 weeks under an urgent referral. You've been referred probably to get them removed because the antibiotics haven't worked meaning the infection will cause more acne unless they are removed.

That's the scary thing, he said I'll be seen within 2 weeks :/
I don't know if that's because biopsies are generally to rule out cancer so happen quickly, would he have sent me urgently to the hospital if he suspected it?

It's really hard isn't it. I have been there. I push for tests because I need to see all is ok and not trust someone then as soon as my dr says ok I will send you I immediately think what do you no that your nor telling me. Right now I can sAy that your dr thinks all ok and just doing to for piece of mind. But if I where you I'd not believe it. But think at least they have listened to you.

Still haven't heard anything about the biopsy, maybe the GP meant I'd be contacted within 2 weeks? Not actually have the biopsy done... Started by CBT yesterday night so hopefully that's a step in the right direction.

Update: Of course the day I post it the day they phone me. My appointment is on the 15th, a day before my 21st birthday... The woman I spoke to was very helpful, she told me the doctor would not have referred me to the minor surgery agency if he suspected cancer.

She also told me what my.GP had written as a referral. Small mobile lump on neck to be removed. I thought mobile meant if it wasn't attached to anything? Seems strange a mobile lump can be attached to the skin...I think this has helped me to trust the doctor a bit more. Still very, very worried however.
