Any advice wud be grateful spotting after sex /ectroption

Hi I'm freaking out right now I have been having light spotting after sex not every time but on and off! Went for an internal two docs said looks healthy normal had smear a year ago as it continues I went back last week for another one and now they say I have an ectroption on my cervix ??? What's freaking me out is why it wasn't seen previously so now I think I've had cell changes and what there seeing is actual cancer :( can't take it I'm going to a private gyno tomoz so they can have a good look and hopefully do a smear so scared anyone been thro this sorry for long post x

I've bleed after sex many times. It's good to get checked but I have no doubt that you are just fine.

I saw a gynecologist about 2 months ago. My doctor referred me because I complained about spotting after sex and bloating/stomach pains.
I had a smear 2 years previously which came back clear.
When I saw the specialist, she told me that I had an ectropion and this could be what's causing the bleeding. She said it is very common in girls aged 18-30 and is normally caused by the contraceptive pill - it is basically just when a certain part of your cervix is facing outward instead of inwards. Anyway, she froze it there and then (painless procedure, didn't do anything in the end anyway because I still have spotting) and told me that I had some scar tissue at the opening of my cervix as well which most likely the main cause of the bleeding.
I think the spotting you are having is probably just scar tissue as well. She told me that I was very tight and dry and suggested that I use plenty of lubricant during sex in the future. I took this advice and, while I still get the odd bit of spotting, it's very rarely now. I think the lubricant done the trick!

Thanks for your replys I was just worried because two docs didn't see an ectroption when I first when for spotting now I have one I dunno maybe you can't see it when it's very small and first starting to come out :( I can't have a smear for another two years just worried

Hi Beckie. No, I didn't have a smear. I had one two years ago so am not allowed another until next year! Desperate for one though so that I can finally put my mind at ease completely...

Hi Kim I decided to go private in the end he did a smear for me last two weeks ago I had to pay mind but needed reassurance detected ectroption which I have but part from that smear was normal so it's put my mind at rest go private if itl make u feel reassured Hun x
