I'm having a skin check on Thursday because my anxiety over melanoma is getting the better of me. Has anyone else ever had one that can tell me what to expect?

They look at, poke and check your moles... that's pretty much it. If anything looks suspicious, they'll check further.

Not to make you nervous but they check every inch of your body and photograph and measure each mole you have

I've never been to a dermatologist before for a mole check. If they use the dermascope is it typical for them to still do a biopsy on a benign mole?

Yep I was googling! The term dermascope came up when I was reading about what happens at the office and the different types of biopsies. Unfortunately I was googling again today..which I know I shouldnt!! I happened to look at one of the moles on my leg that has me concerned and I just cant help but be concerned about it and try and look for info on someone who has one that looks similar and it was fine.

here is an image of it.

it has light shading off to one side. Its always been kinda big and I always remember hating it for cosmetic reasons but never noticed the shading until I found that was a sign of melanoma.
