Cold Sore?

I've never had a cold sore before but been paranoid over the last few months that I will contract it. Yesterday and this morning i've had a lot of itching and burning, particularly on one area of my lip. I'm not sure if it looks red or not. How long is there between the tingling stage and clearly seeing something?

if you are worried go to the chemist and get some zovirax cream,it will stop it becoming a full blown cold sore

I often get cold sores...... they are bloody annoying and occasionally sore BUT they are also nothing to worry about at all.
