So for the past 2 years or so, I've noticed a slight pain that comes and goes on the top right side of my head. When I first noticed it I didn't really think much of it. Of course the "uh oh" worry sort of struck me a little, but I dismissed it as paranoia. Maybe about 6 months after first noticing this pain I found a mass in the back of my neck on the same side that I experience the head pain, located right under the base of my skull. This was a little harder to ignore and I eventually got it checked out and I had a ultrasound done on that area of my neck and the results came back normal.
After This I ignored the pain and lump again because I felt as if I was given somewhat a clean bill of health, and i figured that whatever this mass was, perhaps it was pressing on a nerve that is referring the pain up my head. but recently, whether it be anxiety or not, I feel as if I've been getting signs to keep trying to figure out what the lump is and what is causing the pain. Now also keep in mind the lump will seem to get smaller sometimes, but it never seemed to get any bigger than what it was when I first noticed it.
I also notice that If i shake my head back and forth It induces a slight pain in the area on top of my head, almost feeling like theres something there moving around causing it.
I went to a brain tumor specialist last friday and he did some basic tests on me, balance, pupil dilation, reflexes, ect. and pretty much told me all my tests were perfect and that i should have no concern about a brain tumor and that he could give me and MRI for my peace of mind, but because I don't fit a certain criteria that my insurance probably wouldnt cover it and it'd be pointless.
I left feeling slightly unsatisfied, granted a brain tumor specialist doesnt seem to be too concerned with the symptoms I do have, I still am.
My main question would be, what do you guys think? has anyone had similar issues? Should i keep pursuing to find out whats causing these symptoms, or am i just over thinking this. Anything will help, thank you.

Do you clench your jaw at all?

So for the past 2 years or so

That just about the answer to your question..... you have had the pain for 2 years plus if it was anything serious your tests would not show up as normal after that amount of time

Do you clench your jaw at all?

I do, and I have TMJ on the right side of my jaw, so the muscles in that area do ache from time to time, but I've had the jaw issue since i was 13 and the pain didnt start until I was 18, I have had headaches because of my jaw, but I don't think the pain from the head shaking or the slight shooting pain I get is particularly because of that, though I do think it contributes.
