My dr recently told me I have mild gerd with mild sliding hiatal hernia. I was getting a pressure under breasts going around to back with NO pain & NO burning, except a mild acidic feeling in throat at times, although the pressure was quite unpleasant. I'm now on esomeprazole (active ingredient in nexium) which is helping. OK here's my question. Is gerd due to too little or too much acid? I've heard both but nexium reduces acid & I'm feeling Thank God better. I mean is gerd caused by over active or under active acid? I'd appreciate any enlightenment on this if anyone knows of this gerd issue. Thank You!

Well I always thought Gerd was down to too much acid as PPI's work by neutralising the acid.
