this is nothing to do with my health anxiety really, i just wasnt sure where to post it.

i had my blood taken the other day and it was a different nurse than usual. just before she took the needle out she said it might sting a little...she took it out and OMG it hurt like hell!!!!

really bad stinging pain and throbbing, so much so that i was gasping for breath and going OOOWWWWWWWW THAT REALLLLY HURT!!!

my arms still sore around it and above and below.

anyone know why this happend and what caused it to hurt so much? thanks :)

The last time I had bloods taken, it DIDN'T hurt and that was the first time ever I can say that! The nurse told me that my veins go diagonally across and so she inserted the needle the way the veins went; whereas most (apparently) just put the needle in the same place on everyone. Also, usually I bruise, but this time I didn't.

So I'd guess it's experience and technique!

nothing to do with you. Maybe was an inexperienced nurse or one that was in a hurry!
