So I had my cystoscopy today further to the microscopic hematuria I posted about previously.

It was done in day surgery, which of course made it all the more scary-seeming. The nurses were WONDERFUL. Urologist asked me about my cancer/smoking history and seemed more worried by the minute. Oh Yay.

Anyway, after he was done I nabbed him for a prelim report. He said I had a healthy bladder although I have some benign polyps which he clearly isn't worried about. I asked him about removing them and he said it was more trouble than it was worth. He said the bleeding wasn't coming from my bladder, but further down in the ureter, which is what I suspected. I told him about my aging lady parts, and we had a brief chat about that.

This is all I got from him before he took off.

I have a followup appt in Feb to find out more of the specifics.

So I am relieved, although I have a residual concern about the polyps. Wish I could have spoken to him in more detail about those.

Congrats!!!
Specialists know the difference of benign and non benign polyps. I also have some - for me in the colon. We all have them, but just don't know.

Thanks Robin! The urologist said that they were for sure benign, and even weren't worth removing.

The reason for my quasi-paranoia about the polyp is that, when it was first suspected I had Hodgkin Lymphoma all those years ago, the doctor from the cancer clinic was a total incompetent. He said he didn't care whether the node was biopsied or not. My GP and I decided to biopsy anyway, and thank god we did. From then on, I've been on my guard. When I speak to the urologist in February I'll be able to get more information so that I can feel more assured.

Yep, meanwhile enjoy the holidays and put it out of your mind, knowing that there is no imminent threat. And that's a good point you make, Robin, lots of us are walking around with benign polyps and the only difference is that only some of us know it, lol! :D

That's why ignorance is bliss I guess. :winks:
