my partner is due to go in for an operation to have a cyst removed from his neck, hence having to have a hiv test done! he phoned up the gp today and he asked about his hiv test and she could tell how worried he was and she told him everything is fine and he mentioned is he negative and she said yes which is great news. The only thing that seems strange is they have asked him to see his gp anyway as something to do with his lipids? He does suffer with high cholestrol anyhow if thats any help, some advice would be great!

Yeah, lipids have to do with triglycerides and cholesterol. If they're out of whack, they probably want to discuss changes to diet and/or medication to help control them.

thankyou for fast reply, so he can be ease about the hiv? i have already told him she would not have told him everything was fine about the hiv if it wasnt? i just thought is was strange that they were testing him for hiv and mentioning his lipids, seemed a bit strange why lipids would come up?

when he mentioned the hiv part of it they said he had nothing to worry about and everything was fine, he then asked her if the hiv was negative and she said yes, she didnt know much about the lipids thing it was the receptionist who said there was a note to see gp about lipids? the doctor could tell how worried about it so she told him and he was so relieved, all he kept saying was the word negative lol

If the doctor said that the HIV test was negative, then it was negative. That means you can both stop worrying about it. As for lipids, they tell the doctor all about cholesterol (as fishmanpa said), so if your doctor wants to see him about those, it will very probably be to discuss his cholesterol :)
