Hi
Since I took two courses of antibiotics for tonsilitis in December, I had a sore tongue. Then on Tuesday night my cheek felt rough inside and when I looked there were white patches. Went to emergency dentist wednesday and she said she didn't think it was thrush as it didn't look like it, and she's referred me to the hospital. I asked if she thought it was oral cancer she said it didn't look like it but she didn't know what it was. She didn't put me through on 2 week wait though, just normal appt.
My mouth has been increasing sore on one side and feels like I have mouth ulcers too. Haven't slept for two nights worrying, keep looking at white patches. They are like strings or lines all over one cheek, also tongue is sore. My sinus on that side has also been blocked. Almost passed out in shower this morning and went dizzy but not sure if this is as I am getting myself in a state about my mouth.
Went to docs this morning, he said it didn't look like thrush but that didn't mean it wasn't thrush. I asked if he thought it was cancer and he said no. I said dentist had referred me to the hospital and he said he didn't know why?
He's treating it as thrush and said it didn't look like oral cancer when I asked.
I am lucky enough to have private insurance so I am seeing a maxofacial specialist next week (dentist said would be long wait on nhs).
What is this? Driving myself insane with worry.

Could it be lichen planus?

I had something similar a few years ago and went to urgent care who said it was thrush then saw my own gp a few days later who said he didn't think it was. I still don't know what it was but it went after a few weeks. I took Corlan pellets which I think helped it to go.

NOw i feel sick, dizzy and faint and my hands are freezing cold and I look really pale - convinced it's turned to scepticemia. Could that happen??

It could well be lichen planus (it tends to affect women).
Perhaps you are run down/have a virus & that is why your mouth is sore.
If the doc said it wasn't Cancer, then take it in good faith. It is stress making you feel dizzy & cold. Forget scepticemia!

I am literally going through the same thing. HAd my teeth cleaned and all of a sudden the hygeinist tells me I have white patches on my tongue on both sides and the dentist tells me we will wait and see in 6 months. Cue panic mode for me and I explained that I needed to have peace sooner and so he referred me to oral surgeon. I am only 22 female and don't smoke and also grind my teeth and have woken up with a white line on tongue from biting it. I pray that I have a callous or something. It's torture and I feel for you. I have already envisioned my tongue being cut out and going through chemo and dying anyways.
