It all started on December 1st. I was a frequent marijuana smoker during the past two school years (once a day from September - April). On this day I had a Monster energy drink about 3/4 hours before smoking, and I ended up having a panic attack while I was high. The next day I felt fine but I didn't smoke. On December 3rd, I decided to give it a try again and had another one. Since then I have not smoked or had any caffeine and I have had about 20 bad panic attacks and 5-10 minor ones. Needless to say I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder and I wouldn't hesitate to say I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder (I worry about every. single. thing.).

The panic attacks seem to have calmed down a bit (as has my constant worry about them), I have mainly had minor ones/none at all lately. However, I am left now with a constant sense of worry and the following symptoms:

- Fast heart beat (I went to the gym and just walking/doing light weights I was reaching 101-111. I've been an athlete all my life, and even when running/doing a heavy weight routine I would only reach 70s-90s).
- Constantly stronger heart beat than usual to the point where it keeps me up at night because I can hear/feel it.
- Waking up frequently during sleep
- Constantly yellow/dark yellow urine, occasional diarrhea
- Sweaty & Cold feet and hands
- Chest pains, sometimes when I take a deep breath and hold it I get a stabbing pain on the left side or I feel like I'm starting to pass out
- Constant burping/belching
- Trembling of hands and random bodily twitches
- Constantly red eyes
- Restlessness, constantly have to be moving something/tapping
- Shortness of Breath
-Constant, unending hunger

For reference, I have had a thyroid blood test and it came back normal, as well as an ECG which was apparently normal (my quivering from anxiety just caused wobbles between each heartbeat).

Hi Spectral, Sorry to hear you have been having bad Panic Attacks and suffering from the symptoms that you have mentioned. Lately I have been experiencing the physical symptoms of anxiety. I find the fast heart beat, palpatations and chest pain the most scariest. At times when Im resting I am more aware of especially the fast heart beat and palpatations/ I think its mainly due to the fact that we are more intune with our body sensations. Hope you start to feel better soon. T.c x

Thanks for the response Caroline. This is what I'm struggling with most - all of these symptoms feel very, very real. There is certainly a difference in my heart beat though, I know that for sure since it's been keeping me up and I usually would never even notice it. Also, I feel very different at the gym and my heart pounds much harder. I just can't help but feel that something is wrong, and this is exaggerated by the fact that I have pectus excavatum - my chest (specifically my sternum) sinks in about 3/4 of an inch.

I suggest you take a break, sounds like your all over the place. Just sit and breath and it will help you relax. There's a lot of tricks for anxiety attacks. Focus on your breathing, count things around you, pick an object and pretend your describing to to a blind man. If your in public make up a back story for people around you. Maybe she is a secret princess out doing her own grocery shopping.... If you are still having a lot of panic attacks you should visit a dr, maybe he can give you some medicines, or if he thinks you need them there are a lot of natural alternatives out there that don't have the side effects perscription drugs have.bhope you feel better!

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately after about 15 days of being panic-free I had another panic attack, and it seems to be bringing me back to all the symptoms I listed before. I'm so upset about this because I had just started to feel improvements and I put so much effort into staying positive. :(

I have seen my doctor who prescribed meds for when I have the panic attacks and also presecribed anti-depressants but I'm honestly too afraid to start them given the massive amounts of side effects they have and the immense difficulty people have when getting off of them.

There's a lot of natural alternatives. l-theanine seems to have a lot of good reviews and i take it myself. Passionflower is another one. Im sure this website has advice on herbal remedies. If not im sure Google or Amazon will help you. They are more expensive then the drugs that are prescribed but if you don't want the side effects it's worth the extra money.
