What's the best way to try to ease a panic attack?

Hi Dan,

A panic attack is basically you scaring yourself. In my experience the best way to deal with it is to slow down, slow down your breathing, sag your shoulders, arms and tummy muscles and see it out.

Best,

Sounds silly, but you almost have to just let it wash over you; remember that in the logical part of you, you know that nothing bad is actually going to happen, and that with time, the negative feelings will ease as you begin to relax again. The factual part of it is that your body cannot make unlimited adrenaline, so after around 45 mins (max), the feelings of panic will naturally subside on their own, even if you haven't managed to feel calmer before that - it's a good thing to remind yourself of.

Try to take deep breaths, think about something that you like or enjoy, or that relaxes you. Sit down if you can and step back from the moment, keep thinking logically and remember that the anxiety and panic is just fooling you into feeling that way.

Take care of yourself :)
