I had an upper endoscopy yesterday and last night I started having pain behind my chest when I was eating. Like as the food was going down, it hurt behind my sternum in my chest. Now today it actually hurts a little more. Not like a sharp pain but more aching and sore when the esophagus moves when I burp or when food goes down. I'm so scared of a serious complication from the procedure.

I called my doctor and he said it was not terribly uncommon especially because he took some biopsies in the esophagus, but I was told before the procedure that most people don't have any pain or discomfort after the procedure. He said since I don't have fever or chills and the pain isn't constant that it's probably ok. But it hurts MORE than it did last night and not just when I eat but also when I burp now. I'm really freaking out and afraid he doesn't understand because he always talks like he's in such a hurry.

Please help. What should I do? Had anyone else ever had discomfort after an endoscopy
