Hi.

My GP says I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks. Well, my symptoms seem to be much better. The only one I have really bad now is a feeling like I will pass out. I get this everyday, usually just before I fall asleep. It only lasts a brief couple of seconds but its doing my head in.

Im also 8 weeks pregnant and feel ill a lot. I cant even go and lie down incase I get this horrible feeling. I feel like Im sinking.

Ive had an ECG and that was fine, but Im still convinced that there is something seriously wrong.

Does anyone else get this?

Im due to see a Psychiatrist in 2 weeks and my GP wont put me on any meds as Im pregnant.

Thanks for reading this. - Lizzie

Hi there, i,m a pro to this fainting feeling, I have been feeling like this since february. The docs have assured me that i will not pass out but that doesn,t make it any easier to cope with. It is an awful symptom. I am just hoping that one day it will go away along with this horrid feeling in my head. take care.x

Thanks for the support all.

Peach, you poor thing. Although I must admit, I hate being pregnant. With my daughter, I hated evey second of it. Feeling ill, having really bad headaches and checking that she was moving the correct amount each day. But I did it and now she is a lovely 5 year old and my best friend. It sure was worth all the worry.

Have you seen anyone to talk about your problems? What about hypnotherapy?

By the way, how long do your feelings of faintness last? Mine only last a brief second. What does your Doc say about it? Are you on meds?

Take care - lizzie xx

hi lizzie,

i was given xanax for my anx, but havent taken any...i really want to try to beat this naturally, seeing as it is my mind thats jerking me around, not an actuall illness that i really need meds for, although there are days when im ready to take anything to make it all stop..
my dizzy spells only last a sec each time, then theyre gone..mostly i get them when i leave the house...ive had a few at home in the evenings.
the hypnosis is a great idea, my husband sugested that to me too..think ill try it..my doc said cause of the way i am i should opt for a ceasarean beacuase its quick...i agree with her, but now am worried because its classifed as a major op- doc said it shouldnt be cause its such a simple procedure and done every day without probs...
shes a good calming doc..
doc says fainting is just stress and will go when i calm down more, she recommended a holiday..lol, not meds...so i went, and we just got back last week...
when i was away, my lump in my throat did infact go away...not the dizzyness, but i hear thats the last to go, and ive got a throat infection now, so im guessing that a contributer..
maybe you should try going on hols for a few days.see if that helps you any..

The second I concieved my third child (okay maybe not the second, but before I took a test) I was dizzy. This is how I knew I was pregnant. I was dizzy through the first 6 months and then it calmed down until the very end when it came back again. As for the feeling like you're fainting before you fall asleep I had this exact same thing. It was worse when I was pregnant and I still get it every once and a while. I used to be afraid to go to sleep because I hated that feeling. It would jolt me up, or feel like my body was falling...it was weird. I think it is a combination of anxiety and hormones. Hormones seem to make it worse. Sorry you're going through this but it won't hurt you. I never passed out or died. :D Even though I know it is scary and weird.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Hi Kimmiepie

Thanks for replying.

Yup, youve described that fainting feeling just right. I cant bear it. What did your Doc say it was? Mine just says it anxiety, but I really want to know why it happens.

I get really down and worried when it gets dark as I know I have to go to bed and I know I will have that feeling again. Its ruining my life.

DId you take any meds while pregnant?

How have you coped with your anxiety?

Take care - Lizzie xx

My doctor didn't say anything...except it's probably just anxiety or the pregnancy which can make your hormones do weird things. I was very concerned about it though. I wouldn't go to bed until my husband got home from work (he worked nights), I hated taking naps even though I needed them. Sometimes it would happen while I was sitting up (still does sometimes) and that was weird!

After the pregnancy I had two MRI's of the brain because I was so bothered by this, and the tingling, eye problems etc I was sure I had MS or a brain tumor. But both were perfectly clear. I still don't know the exact cause but I feel it's really a combination of anxiety and hormones. Mine happens more (which is very little anymore) around the time of the month. Also I'm nursing so I think the nursing hormones had a lot to do with it too. The longer I go, the better it gets.

I had a bad time with my anxiety while pregnant. I was sure my heart was going to stop, I was going to get blood clots, bleed to death etc. But I turned out okay and had a beautiful birth too. The best advice I can give you is (and I know it's easier said than done because I didn't do it either) NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. Try to enjoy your pregnancy. I have regrets because this was my last one and I spent all my time worrying instead of enjoying it.

I did not take any medicaitons while I was pregnant, I try to be "natural" [:I]
