Breathing/heart

Just wondering if anyone else gets this.

I currently have a cold, all bunged up. The past three or four nights I have woken with a start as if I have "forgotten" to breathe. It has scared me. Because of this I have woken and my heart has been racing. It has taken me a while to get back to sleep. I'm about 2 stone overweight and a non smoker.

I now have googled and have scared myself about cardiomyopathy or something worse. Anyone please help. :(

A very common anxiety thing. Yes, I had this in the early days. A lot.

Thank you for the reply. I had an ECG done exactly this time last year and everything was fine. I am trying to see reason and think that it is my cold that is causing the difficulty breathing.
