Was this a panic attack?

I was just out shopping and had a huge dizzy/panic attack.
I was very close to going in a shop and calling an ambulance.
I went straight to my GP who ruled out anything like heart/stroke/BP.
I came off Nytol 4 days ago and he said it could be withdrawal from that.
I've had 'small' panic attacks in the past but nothing like this - it was mega and very scary!
Need reassurance please!

Rosalind - it sounds like a panic attack to me. Just try to focus on your breathing and try not to run away from the situation (easier said than done).

Yep - sounds like a panic alright. The thing you have to remember is, it's only panic and it won't kill or hurt you. Take deep breaths and try to focus on whats outsdie your head instrad of whats going on inside it. It's nothing to worry about, it's only a panic - it's adrenaline, that's all.
