Lower back pain??

I have an identical twin sister and I'm worried because lately she has been having severe lower back pain that comes and goes. It will hurt her for a few days then go away and come back. She says it doesn't feel muscular and feels more internal. I'm really worried it's something bad. Is this normal?

Lower back pain can be caused by a number of things and even when it is muscular it doesn't always feel like it is. Always best to check with the GP if it bothering her a lot. Not sure how it works in USA but in UK if it is muscular the doctor would refer to physio.
