I have 1 filling on an upper molar. It is a white filling and is 2.5 yrs old.

I am not sure if I have lost some of it. It doesn't hurt but have booked a dentist appt for tomorrow to check.

What will they do if I have lost some? Do they have to drill the old one out? Or do they take the tooth out?

I imagine they'll either replace the missing filling or will have to take out the filling that's in there and refill it.

They won't remove your tooth unless it is rotten and unable to be fixed - seriously doubt that is the case :)

Honestly, I have had fillings for over 10 years at least and they are perfectly fine, so I'd be willing to bet yours is A-OK as well.
