Hi all, I'm sorry for posting about this again, I wish someone else had the same problem, I have had a bump on my collarbone for ages, possibly years, behind the bump there seems to be a band of muscle that runs from the collarbone up to the neck, this is long and rope like and feels like muscle, I don't have it on the other side, I have had a couple of accidents vin the past that could have caused an injury there, but my mind is going crazy thinking its sarcoma, bone cancer or lymphoma, I am perfectly healthy in all other areas, please can some put my mind at ease, many thanx xxq

If you've had it years it's not cancer. It sounds like cartilage to me. If you're really concerned why not go to your doctor?

I have been to the drs so many times in the last month with different lumps and bumps, also I'm to scared to go back again i get myself so worked up, its not like a lump more like a ropey tendon or something, just need some reassurance, xx

Herbie,

With all due respect, you've posted about this several times before and got responses and reassurance.

At this point, just give in and go to your doctor for reassurance. Obviously you're not getting it here :(

Positive thoughts

PS Print out these threads and take them to the doctor if you go. Ask him to refer you so you can get some help with your anxiety.

Thanx fishmanpa, you have just made me realise how pathetic I am being, I'm not going to the docs again, Iknow I can do this by myself, I can't keep seeking reassurance, as it will go on to something else, I'm going to try and forget about it and try and get on with my life xx

We're not as qualified to diagnose anything as doctors are (obviously), so I'm not sure how reassurance from an anxiety forum can help with that? You clearly know it's your anxiety at the root of it. I'd take fmp's advice. You're young enough to be able to beat this quickly if you focus your mind on beating it.

Herbie that is your Sternocleidomastoid Muscle it runs from just behind the ear to the collar bone sounds like yours may be a little tight thus causing the bump. Constantly being in an anxious state could cause it to tighten. I had plenty issues only to find out it was being caused by this muscle look it up.also from your previous post you said you was in a car accident whiplash would definitely cause this.

Thank you so much worrywart, you have really helped put my mind at rest, I thought it probably is a muscle as I have been very tense also my job as a nursery cook involve me being hunched over for 6 hours a day, but thank you anyway that's all I needed to hear xxx
