View Full Version : How can I relax?

For the past four weeks I have been doing ok. I mean I have noticed that my anxiety was still there, but I was functional. Now for the past week it has been hard:(

Right now I have been tensing up my muscles in my back and chest area. When it gets real bad I start to feel strange and feel like I can't breath. Of course when I am feeling like that it is almost hard to do anything that want to do. For example if I find myself starting to feel bad I then try and concentrate on feeling better. Then after that I might feel good for the next five minutes, then the next five minutes I start feeling worser. This can happen for a good part of the day. So anyone have any advice on how I can stop this vicious cycle? I mean how can I get myself to relax and stop tensing up my muscles? If I could go ever three hours feeling good then I would feel like I am accomplishing something. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Hoping for a better week!!

Hi Peggy:)

Trying to relax can be hard. The more you try the worse you get.
I do relaxation cds and i also change the way i breathe when i'm tense.
Do you have or have you tried relaxation cds?
If not, PM me and i'll send what I have to see if it helps.

Take Care

Sounds like you are trying to fight your tension so much you tense up even more.
I'd say try relaxation CDs as well, as that means that someone else (on the CD) will be telling you to relax, and hopefully you can.
I too hope for a better week for you.
