I take it you keep posting about this!

Beckie; I've had and still have this due to tight muscles brought on by past anxiety. My right leg and hip area get very tense & achy especially when I'm walking or exercising lots. I absolutely know there is nothing seriously wrong but should probably see a chiropractor. I suggest you do the same hun.... or a doctor who can give you some advise & peace of mind. xx

Beckie, I have suffered from sciatica on and off since I was 18 (some 20 years!) and this is exactly how it presents. When I first had it, I was too scared to go to the docs and it dragged on and on (some episodes lasted for months with no respite and the pain varied between nagging and intense. It ruined my first year at uni. Eventually, I went to the doctors, convinced they were going to say it was a spinal tumour or something pressing on a nerve, but they did some simple tests and told me it was likely a prolapsed disc. I still get it a couple of times a year and often cant relate it to any particular heavy lifting or twisting. I am recovering from a bout now (and this was bilateral, so excruciating pain) and it does take several weeks to feel better.

Another thing you might want to google is piriformis syndrome (not scary), which has almost identical symptoms but a different cause. It is miserable, but if you pop to your doc for reassurance, they might at least be able to give you some advice as to how best to manage the symptoms.

May I ask what is wrong with asking you to go to a doctor? Are you looking for a solution here or simply attention seeking?

This had occurred in my right leg/bum twice now. The first time I went to the walk in centre as I was terrified and I was told it is sciatica. Can take days, weeks or even months to go.

Beckie you will end up running out of people who will bother to reply to you which is sad. Look at fishmans comment, he has posted a link to all of your identical threads where the advice has been given to you, i think your problem here is a little more than health anxiety.

I am sure Gary like all of us was giving you good advice and it can be frustrating when it seems as though it's falling on death ears, like mine.

You're not hurting anyone Beckie, but you're hurting yourself by not taking any advice.

Lots of great advice Beckie. People are only trying to help you sweetheart but the truth is you can only help yourself. We can't give you a medical diagnosis so make that doctor appointment and get it seen to. xx

I'm not very familiar with your threads but my husband had something similar last year. Without going into great detail he found that the problem started to improve once he started being more mobile. He had physio (made it worse) and he tried resting for months. It came to the point where he had no choice but to do a couple of days work on a renovation we were doing and the pain improved. After that he returned to resting and physio and the pain worsened again. He decided to go back to work and just 'put up with it' because he was sick of being on compo. Within days the pain had lessened by ninety percent and now 4 months after returning to work it is completely healed. He continues to be very careful about how he lifts things as this is what set it off in the first place. Anyway the point I am trying to make is you may be resting too much.

Did he have sciatica?

If I sit around, even in the correct positions, it worsens. I remember reading that rest is not what it needs and you should continue as normal (with caution dependent on what your day normally is like).

My dad was the same although his was worse than mine. If he rested it, it got worse.

I guess the lack of blood flood and not stretching out that area of the back plays a part in it.

Hopefully he can restrengthen his back and be free of it in time.

Hi Terry. No it was a bulging disc. He had an MRI. There was talk of an operation but he was reluctant to go that route. It will probably bulge again but for now all is good. Beckie it took about 4 months for the pain to stop. He had an MRI and saw a specialist.
