Hi Guys,

Well went to my GP today and got my echo results. Apparently my heart is functioning fine, although they have noted a small amount of localised fluid around the heart i.e - Pericardial Effusion. They have reffered me to a specialist who will disscuss things further with me.

So i thought i would start a new post to find out any info on pericardial effusion. Has anyone suffered with this problem, does anyone know anything about it. Is it harmful?? Could it cause the ectopics??????

Mixed feelings about my results at the mo!!!

Hi Jinkus, thanks for letting us know i've been waiting for you to come back on with the results. Now that you have i'm sorry that i do not know anything to tell you that can help. All i know is that it is a build up of fluid and you probably already know that anyway. Don't know if it causes more ectopics though. Have you had ECG's and they did not show anything? Or have you just had an echo and that has been all. Did you ask questions when you went to your gp today all about it. Sorry that i cannot help you with this as i just do not know.x

It takes a minute to get anxiety, but a lifetime to get rid of it!!!

the fluid in the pericardial sac which encases the heart (pericardial effusion) is probably harmless if its in a small amount.... the only way it could detriment the heart is if it built up a lot and didnt allow the heart to contract and expand normally. im pretty sure that they are going to need to figure out the source of the fluid to make sure it doesnt build up. good luck! im sure it will work out great, but let me know!
