Trimethoprim 200mg prescribed for UTI how long before it work?

I went to Doc's today and there was white cells and blood in my urine, anxiety going hay wire and wondering how long before it starts to work? It's a 5 day course?

It should start to work after a couple of days or so. It's an excellent antibiotic for UTIs. However, if you're not better after this course, do go back to the GP as some bacteria which cause UTIs are not sensitive to Trimethoprim and there are plenty of others they can give you which will kill the bugs:) Speaking from experience, make sure you finish the course even if you start feeling like you're better, otherwise the bacteria can build up resistance (as happened in my case - won't be making that mistake again!)
