I was finally referred by my doctor to a gastro specialist.

I just came from her office. Good thing is that I felt comfortable with her immediately. She was funny, lovely, and very friendly.

So I told her about my symptoms which were phlegm on my throat after eating, occasional bloating and burping. Before this visit, I was put on 40 mg Nexium for 4 weeks by my GP and it did little to no relief.

I tested negative for HPylori in my blood as well.

The gastro doctor said she will switch my medicine first to pantoprazole (40mg) for another two weeks plus Gaviscon 3 times a day then after the meds, she will order an abdominal ultrasound. If I still don't feel better after 2 weeks, she will order an endoscopy. :(

Now I am really scared of having the abdominal ultrasound because they might find something like a mass or enlarged organ. :( Has anybody here had long time GERD and had an ultrasound or endoscopy which turned out okay? :(

I could really use your help. :(

Good timing. I literally had my endoscopy yesterday. I tested negative for H. Pylori (even though I did have it a year ago, but that got taken care of), but kept getting acid reflux, a pain to the right of my belly button, and a general unwell/warm feeling even though I didn't have a fever. Prilosec sometimes worked, but it wasn't a guarantee.

Anyways, I had my endoscopy yesterday which I was freaking out about. The preliminary results is that nothing is wrong. No polyps, no ulcers, no anything. So now I'm waiting for the results in a couple of days to see if anything comes out of the tissues samples. In a way, I wish they did find an ulcer or something because then at least it would explain what's been going on with me. If they find nothing, I really don't want to have to get a colonoscopy, but it may come to that.

Hi Krypt,

Thank you for your reply.

I am glad your endoscopy went well. I am fairly nervous of having mine.

May I know what were your symptoms and how long have you been having them?

Is it possible that yours could be caused by stress and anxiety?

My friend both had an endo/colonoscopy but nothing was found. :)
