I was finally referred by my doctor to a gastro specialist.
I just came from her office. Good thing is that I felt comfortable with her immediately. She was funny, lovely, and very friendly.
So I told her about my symptoms which were phlegm on my throat after eating, occasional bloating and burping. Before this visit, I was put on 40 mg Nexium for 4 weeks by my GP and it did little to no relief.
I tested negative for HPylori in my blood as well.
The gastro doctor said she will switch my medicine first to pantoprazole (40mg) for another two weeks plus Gaviscon 3 times a day then after the meds, she will order an abdominal ultrasound. If I still don't feel better after 2 weeks, she will order an endoscopy. :(
Now I am really scared of having the abdominal ultrasound because they might find something like a mass or enlarged organ. :( Has anybody here had long time GERD and had an ultrasound or endoscopy which turned out okay? :(
I could really use your help. :(
