Hello. I recently had an MRI done on my sinuses due to issues I have been having.

They found a retention cyst, and said that they really don't do much about these.

Now, with my anxiety being the way it is, this concerns me. I didn't mention to the doctor that I used to smoke and occasionally smoke, and I feel as if I told him this he may have a second thought on whether it could be cancerous or not.

Im worried. SHould I tell the doctor that I used to smoke? Should I get a 2nd opinion? Has anyone had any experiences with these types of cysts?

From what I have heard, these cysts are common and happen on mucus membranes. They are benign. I don't have one in my sinuses, but have had a couple retention cysts in my mouth that were benign. Basically it is called a retention cyst because something gets blocked up and the mucus stays under the skin, creating a cyst/bubble. They happen a lot.
