View Full Version : Unresolved emotions

Wondered if anyone else had any experience of hynoanalysis. I did it for about 7 weeks a few years ago and was supposed to discover a hidden unresolved emotion from my childhood (apparently its always something you can't remember and its locked in your subconscious memory). Was supposed to reach a stage when I got to what it was that has been causing my anxiety and have an intense emotional release - And all my problems would be solved!

guess what, I never found out what it was that's been haunting me and apparently about 90% who have the treatment do. Although a bit sceptical I can see some sense in the theory and its putting me off thinking I'll make a recovery unless I find out what it is, cos every time I get better, if I experience another period of stress then my anxiety will come back again.

Id like to try cbt methods but can't help thinking that if I don't find o ut the root cause it will always come back and that cbt is just another way of 'coping'?

All sounds a bit heavy - but any suggestions or thoughts?

Rufus

Hi, thanks for the reply Nigel - yeah I'm visiting my GP next week and will ask about it - in the meantime I'm trying to use some of the positive thinking ideas on this site which have started to help in the last few days I think as I've been able to go out and about a bit and socialise which I'm really pleased about.

Thanks, Rufus xx
