Tonight I was at the gym working out, I was training my chest (bench press) etc and now my chest (left side) feels tender, squeezing and painful. I've never had pain like this before after exercising and am beginning to worry now :( I've checked my heart with ECGs but haven't has a stress test or anything like that, I have one due on Sunday here tho! I honestly feel
Horrendous right now :(

A lot better this morning. Anxiety is just so convincing that there's something wrong lol

Its just muscle soreness, Colin, and don't be surprised if you get it the next day or even 2 days or more. You will hear people talk about DOMS a lot in the gym or the bodybuilding forums.

When you are lifting weights you are essentially trying to cause "micro tears" in the muscle. The muscle responds by growing thicker muscle fibres to replace them. This is what you want to do otherwise you never grow.

Like Paul said, you will have a stronger & weaker side. This is why many PT's tell people to use things like dumbells, kettlebells, do bodyweight exercises, etc as you then stop you pushing/pulling more with your dominant side.

You know those whey shakes you knock back afterwards? If you do some Googling on preventing DOMS, you find articles advising taking so much protein prior to exercise to keep you fuelled up and also reduce DOMS.

Good advice from other poster. Sounds good anyway. Know nothing about weight lifting etc ha ha.

Yes anxiety is a powerful thing. Those that maybe don't suffer from it sure underestimate it's power I think.. It truly is a mental and physical battle.
