Hi Everyone,

I have a really bad phobia of allergic reactions after having a mild reaction (my throat slight constricted and had to have a antihistamine) my I'm constantly convinced I'm going to have a reaction. I won't eat new foods or take any tablets if I haven't taken them before. Right now I took an antihistamine for a mild hayfever symptoms and I've convinced myself I'm having an allergic reaction to the antihistamine! My throat feels like it's closing up and I can't breathe, hot flushes etc. I'm so worried I am going to go into anaphlaxis and die.

Health anxiety is ruining my life, I'm only 18 and I'm constantly having to check my temperature in case of meningitis, I avoid eating out because I don't know what the food I'm eating will contain and what if I have a reaction. I know this is all so irrational but I can't help it and I don't know where to go from here. I previously had CBT but since that stopped I've been getting much much worse :(

Your anxiety will make you feel like your throat is closing up, your ok.. But your so young and to live your life in such a worrisome state is so sad please go see your GP to organize some CBT for you, it really will help you honey.... I totally understand your fears I had them too from such a young age but I learned how to deal with the thoughts through therapy... Good luck :)

Hi Emmapony and welcome to NMP :welcome:

I suggest you have a read through this thread where the OP has a similiar fear to you:

http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=72538

I would also suggest you read Kimberley's eating disorder thread:

http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=155655

I'm not saying you have an eating disorder but Kimberely has similiar issues from a contamination perspective so hers is OCD. I think it is possible that yours could fit into that bracket so its worth exploring. This may be a useful starting place http://www.ocduk.org/types-ocd
