Has anyone ever had to go to/stay in hospital because of their stress?

Yes Sophie but firstly I must say that was thirty years ago at The Priory and at the time I was insured (The insurers I was with no longer except mental health problems).

I hated it and discharged myself as it made me far more depressed than I was beforehand. It was more like an asylum I am afraid .

Lord yes, I've even spent six weeks in the psych ward. It isn't what you think it is, no straight jackets and white coats, just a quiet place to be with a shared room. I'd do it again.

I used to work on one, if you have any questions. They may be a little different here in the USA, but probably not much.

Yes I was in a psych unit for 18 days. The best thing that could have happened at the time. Fantastic staff and a great team to help me. But you have to want to be "helped".... corny but true:). To be fair if you are able to post a question on the internet I would say it would be unlikely that you would get a bed. More likely that you would be supported at home.
