hi kelly
ive been having cbt for about 5 weeks now and although i was really scared at first as it takes you at a pace suited to you ive got to add
to face things that you avoid through panic and gradually works through the scary thoughts to. basically letting you face your fears the ones in and out of your head at a pace you can handle,
it teaches you not to be afraid anymore of things you dont have to be an and in real stressful times not to go into the panic way of fearing hence letting you cope better and hopefully returning to a more normal way of dealing with things.
it is hardwork but worth it and works well for me
hope this helps take care j

Hi,
does everybody have anxiety about something that they think is going to happen (future) or do people have it where something has/may have happened already and they get "what if i did this, or what if this happened" does this make sense?
i have had a really bad week so bad in fact i have just come back from hospital after feeling i couldnt cope anymore and they gave me a three week anxiety management course to do until i have my assesment. feeling a little more relaxed now (think it is more exhaustion than anything else)

Hi Kelly

Welcome to the forum. I had CBT and it helped me loads. It made me realise that they were thoughts and not actions which at the time i could not distinguish between. Made me see we all have some kind of strange thoughts but when we feel anxious we cant justify or understand them.

Love Sal xx

Hi Sal,

thanks for the message, just feel like i am the only one who is suffering from things in the past which are worrying me, everywhere i have been on the internet mentions how people worry about things happening at present or in the future. what i feel is guilt from something that, i think, could have happened even though i have no memory of anything happening (probs doesnt make sense i know!!)please do tell me if this does make sense to anyone!!

Hi Kelly,

Welcome to the forum, you make perfect sense and most of my anxiety is from things that have already happened.

Hugs to you

Hi Kelly,

Guilt is a difficult issue and one that CBT and counselling should be able to help you with. I really hope that your assessment provides you with all the help that you need. Hopefully you will not be waiting too long

Hugs to you

thanks Lynnann, i might go and see a hypnotherapist to see if they can help me as well, have heard some good things about it that they can help, i am also seeing a private counsellor at the minute which work have kindly paid for this will be my 4th visit but not sure of really helping, can sometimes make me feel worse as he tries to suggest things that i am even more scared off.

Hi Kelly,

Sometimes counselling does make you feel worse for the short term as you are facing things that you really don't want to, all I can suggest is stick with it a little longer and be completely honest and tell him how some of the sessions have made you feel. The long term benfits should be worthwhile.

If you feel you wish to try hypnotherapy as well, please discuss it with the counsellor you are already seeing first, at least that way all are aware and the two therapys can compliment each other

wishing you all the very best

Lynnann
