hi all, I have had a white patch on The side of my tongue for 2 months now, I'm going to a specialist soon to find out what it is. My dentist didn't seem concerned but she referred me to a specialist anyway. I don't drink I don't smoke and I'm only 17. The white patch has some whitish spots inside that seem to fade and come back. My dentist said it could be my teeth rubbing on my tongue. But would the patch have the tiny dots inside if it is? Btw the patch sometimes becomes a fleshy tongue colour (barely visible) and sometimes its got a brighter shade of white in it???

please reply, I'm so scarred

My dad dentist stopped his mouth cancer at a check up now my dad is fine. Dentists are very good and knowledgeable but going to see a specialist will definitely clear up your worries.

Agree, also cancer doesn't go away and come back to my knowledge. Your dentist is trained to spot oral cancer.

Hey, thanks fof replying! I panic a lot because of the spots inside the patch. I didnt think they would be there if it was hyperkeratosis, but maybe they can be?

Oral cancer in a 17 year old who doesn't drink or smoke is, quite frankly, an absurd notion. There are a whole host of very benign things that can cause things like this, and I can promise you with 99% certainty that this is not a sign of oral cancer.
