Hi , my doctor has given me a prescription for contracerptive pills ,

its a progesterone only pill and he said it was safe, now ive read the paper work its saying it may have a slight risk for causing breast cancer. When i questioned it they said it is safe and they are only covering themself.

yet i still worry ?

I really need it for my PMS .......help!

Hi Mirry,

I was having a similiar conversation with my sister this morning - she takes the progesterone only pill and I take the combined pill and we both take them because we have very very heavy periods.

Like all things you have to weigh up the pros and the cons. My periods are unacceptably heavy and happen more like every 3 weeks and last for a good 7 days if I don't take the pill. So it has meant an improvement in all these aspects and I don't feel so drained anymore!

"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.

Im the same piglet, but I just cant get myself to take it.....
I think I worry far too much , I been reading the stats;

it says ......

out of 10'000 women, at the age of 40 ....20 more women will get breast cancer on top of the normal rate, due to the pill.

And that after the age of 40 , the risk increases even more... doesnt say to what tho ?

Men have it so easy :(

hi mirry

i am the same - started taking the prostergerone only pill about 2 yrs ago and to be honest was a bit scared of the higher risks cos im over 40 - but to be honest the advantages of being on it have helped me immensely so I am prepared to take the chance.

I has definelty helped my PMS.
