View Full Version : Can anyone recommend great CBT book?
Can someone recommend some good practical easy to follow CBT book for health anxiety specifically? I have only tried to read feeling good by david burns but it is mostly for depression.
Sorry, can't help. All I can say is that Claire Weekes is the book that has helped me the most, but it is not CBT and not specific to health anxiety, so basically not what you are asking for at all ;-) but I just wanted to share what has helped me xx

I have visual cbt which has pictures explaining the concepts which helps me more than words. Also the overcoming series is good I think there is one specifically on health anxiety too.
@sial72 What Claire Weekes book?
@Kimberley2 Is there any specific visual cbet book?

It is called Visual CBT by Ava Joseph :)
I think she has 4 or 5 books
- Self help for your nerves/Hope and help for your nerves
There is also one that is specific for agoraphobia
Here are some excellent modules as I suggested in another post. They really helped me understand how health anxiety starts, feeds itself and makes me feel.
Just try and get past the cheap clip art!

Not a cbt book, but a great little book that's helped me when I've been at my.most anxious is "Never hit a jelly fish with a spade". Brilliant to just dip in and out of.

Me too,initially it was my bible but CBT hadn't been really practised when she wrote her books.
I think the question should be is CBT more beneficial in one to one therapy (though I appreciate it can be limited) or by learning by book.
Claire Weekes is the best :-)
CBT for Dummies is the best I have found. Easy to follow and really good explanations, tips and suggested actions.

I think in one on one therapy. The therapist isn't in your head living in fear so can provide rational feedback and advice.
