the haunting

Adjust the stool until your head is within the square
Insert money to a total of five pounds
The machine takes coins of 10p and above
It doesn’t take the shrapnel you want to relieve yourself of

Relax

Wait for the flash
There will be three further flashes
Remember to smile
A smile will help, it always does

Allegedly

What were you thinking
Did you not brush your teeth this morning
Did you not bring a comb
Did you not prepare yourself for this portrait that will haunt you for years?

As the four pictures tease you as they dry
You check your pockets for additional change
You curse being in a rush
And the haunting begins
