Hi everyone :-)

Just after some guidance really as it a bit of a nightmare trying to get a docs appointment round here!

I have been on fluxotine for the last 5 months and have been doing great, however after the 6 months is up I would like to try and come off of it.

At the start I felt amazing....I now feel a tad numb emotionally and detatched, I have also started to get a bit irritable (dont know if this is related or maybe hubby is being a pain!) lol

I know you have to see a doc to do this but was just wondering if there was any way to do it or what the side effects are in advance?

Thanks for reading

Here is some information on how to reduce most of these meds:

http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/drugs-and-treatments/medication-stopping-or-coming-off/planning-withdrawal/#.VQk6VdKsWSr

http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/healthadvice/treatmentswellbeing/antidepressants/comingoffantidepressants.aspx

Usually they say 10% drops at a time to ensure a smoother withdrawal. My GP is pretty poor with meds and told me to come off Citalopram at 50% drops. I was ok though, just the usual head zaps, cotton wool heads, dizziness and a bit of nausea which is a world away from the onset side effects when I started them. Some of it is because you are in a much better state when you withdraw though.

You have to be sure you are recovered though. If not and you are concerned about the med, you could maybe try reducing and see if these other issues go away?
