I am just wondering

I had a MRI scan last week due to a Liver issue I have - if I can lung cancer would that have shown up on the scan or would they not bother looking at those areas if they are only concentrating on liver?

for the past week I have had a cough and now my shoulder is hurting so I am panicking about having lung cancer :(

Due to spine issues I have so far had 12 MRI scans so lots of experience!

They tend to do scans in areas so for example in the spine they do neck/chest/lower back. I know someone who had an mri of lower back and it picked up kidney cancer so they do cover more than the exact place they are looking at.

It also depends on what your Dr has asked for as well. They sometimes do a certain area in more detail as well.

So in all honesty I cannot say that your lungs would have been covered as well, I would guess with liver the scan probably included the lower part of lung but you would need to ask your Dr the answer to this.

Remember it is almost certainly nothing to worry about and something minor thats causing your cough etc
