been having some pain in my left leg
for 5 days now. It started out as a very
mild calf cramp after waking. I figured it
could be due to dehydration so I drank a
lot of water and gatorade. The cramp
seemed to have gone away. I even went to
the gym the next day to walk on the
treadmill. The following day I had what
felt like sciatic pain... still was able
to walk around the mall but was limping
around. My leg felt better the next day
after resting but it's been getting random
pains from back of the knee , inner thigh,
groin, and on top of thigh. Muscles also
seem to twitch. I'm able to walk on it, no
swelling, no redness and can bear my
weight on the leg. I was worried so I
ordered a d dimer test for myself. The
results were negative at <0.2 the normal
reference range is <0.5 ... so I'm way
below. My worry is that I was on a 4 hr
plane ride 3 weeks before my leg pain. I
made sure I got up and stretched my legs
though every 30 mins to an hour. I'm not
on birth control and never have had a dvt
before. But I'm just worried. Do dvt's get
worse in pain or can it subside in pain
and still get worse without knowing the
clot is growing and breaking? Does the
pain hop around in different areas of the
leg? Foot , calf, thigh, groin? Or is the
pain usually centralized in one location?

My mother had dvt from her knee up into her abdomen and all her pain was in her thigh plus her upper leg was swollen and tight and red. It was obvious to the Dr what was wrong with one look at it. Her d dimer was very elevated as well.

Your pains could be muscular soft tissue pains or even from your back as a dodgy back can give you pain right down to your toes! Obviously we can't diagnose anything on here but it is usual with dvt to have swelling etc and a elevated d dimer result.
