Starting Ven stopping Prozac

Hi

Just wondered does anyone have any experience with coming off Prozac and starting Ven? I've only been taking Prozac 20mg for 12 days and stopped on Tuesday as the side effects were horrific. My GP wants me to start Ven 37.5mg straight away but I'm a bit worried about the Prozac still being in my system.

Just wondered if anyone else has been switched from one to the other?

Also be great to hear any positives, I'm just felt so awful on Prozac don't think things could feel any bleaker :weep:

Hi Munchlet!

I can understand your concern, however, there is no reason to worry. I took Prozac for about 10 years until it wasn't working anymore. Then I weaned it off very slowly and started Venlafaxine at the same time with no problems at all.

Unlike other drugs Prozac has comparatively mild withdrawal effects. So If you feel any side-effects they most likely will come from Venlafaxine.

Thank you Chris, I took my first dose a few hours ago, really praying this works as I've not had much luck with meds. Will keep posting my progress.
