Hey Guys,

I have recently turned 30 and I have been monitoring my liver enzymes with my Doctor for going on a few years now.

They were mildly elevated at 54 3 years ago but in the last few months ALT has gone up to 190. Ofcourse I am very worried and not sure what that level signifies?

I had a liver ultrasound done a few weeks ago and they seemed to show the liver is free of any obvious structural abnormalities, scaring, tumours etc and the only thing of worthy note was non alcoholic fatty liver (which I know can raise ALT but surely not to this level?).

ALT has gone up by about 50 in the last 3-4 months?

Anyone have any insight any word of reassurance?

What are you doing about the none alcoholic fatty liver disease?? I am hoping your Dr has discussed the causes and cures of this with you?

I am 20 years older than you and at my last liver scan I was told I had a ytiny little patch of this, I had already lost 2 stones in weight and my Dr told me to keep up the good diet I was on and the patch would go away which I have done.

What does your Dr say about your increasing level?

She tends to think those levels aren't solely caused by a fatty liver as they are quite high so I'm thinking Hepatitis :( As for the fatty liver diagnoses it's been quite close between the ultrasound and these blood results so we haven't had time to sit down and discuss to much until all the results come back and then we'll tackle it all by I am overweight on my BMI though I am changing my ways now but so many scary things it could be and it has jumped up quite quickly :(

My mate had a similiar reading to mine (none drinker )

The DR said the readings can go up and down , ie never will be the same on any test !

That was 10 years ago he is still here we never discussed it further .

Maybe your liver was working harder at the time to rid meds and all the other stuff it does

Your young , the liver is the only organ that can repair its self you will be fine just look after yourself healthy diet etc

Thank you mel2 for your reassuring words, I'll wait and see what the blood tests say and yeah the Prozac and Omeprazole probably wasn't helping as they are both metabolised by the liver
