Hi Master
I experience pain in my back aftre being really anxious etc.. I think it is because anxiety sufferers tend to tense there upper body to try and fight what we are feeling which after a while of being so tense we end up with sore muscles... if you actually think about how you are holding yoursef, the posture you have etc, you will actually realise how tense you are really holding onto yourself. treat yourself and get a massage maybe? or just try and relax yourself a little more often :o)
take care

I have a back condition so I experience alot of back pain from time to time.

Taking pain killers and putting a hot water bottle on the area where the pain is works a treat. To avoid stiffness do gentle exercises. Try swimming regulary as it helps the muscles in the back which we rarely use.

If it persists then you should see a doctor.

Hi Master

I think Prin is right - sometimes we tense-up without realising we're doing it, and we then end up with very painful stiff muscles. I know that lack of sleep makes me cold, and I then hunch up my shoulders trying to keep warm; this leads to tension and ultimately to back, shoulder and neck pain.

Now that I know I can be prone to tensing, I make a conscious effort to make sure I'm always warm, or to consciously relax.

I know that as part of my anxiety/PAs I get chest pain; when this happens and I'm laying bed it sometimes feels as though the pressure is causing me back pain as well (I know, it sounds very odd!). But I know it's anxiety that's causing it, and when I'm distracted or busy, both pains/symptoms go away, so I'm certain its nothing more.

Hope this helps reassure you.

I've had lower back pain probs for years which anxiety only aggravates. I have personally found Yoga useful because there are certain poses/moves which focus on strengthening your back. I also find massage helps.
