Please can anyone help at all,

I am at work and am having the worst panicky breathing problems. I was eating my lunch and felt like my windpipe had literally closed over, I tried to calm myself down and settle down and I just can't relax since, I've been feeling really shaky and trembly for the last 30 minutes and just cant seem to bring myself back down to normal. I still feel so tight chested and am obsessed with the fact that I'm going to start choking and not be able to breathe at any moment!
Does anyone have any calming techniques or self-help mechanisms that I can discreetly practice at my desk? this situation is horrible :(

Try this:

Look for:
5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can taste
1 thing you can smell

Concentrate on slow deep breaths. You won't stop breathing.
Take little sips of water. You won't choke. :hugs:

thanks 23tana, that was actually helpful! I'll remember that again when it next happens :). Its so difficult to calm down when I get myself in such a panic. Especially when you've got to pretend its not happening in front of your colleagues!
