Hi all, after a traumatic weekend, resulting in an operation to remove a very painful abscess, I thought I would post what I have learnt so far;
1. I can wake up from anaesthetic, may sound silly but this was my biggest fear.
2. I can sleep without wine, a belief I've had for a long time, however managed to sleep fine for 3 nights without it, and strangely feel better for it
3. The love of strangers is a wonderful thing, I received so much support from fellow patients on my ward, many going through far worse than me.
4. One step at a time, no point thinking about the what ifs for tomorrow, when there's too much to deal with today, and at points over the weekend that has been broken down to getting through the hour.
I'm home now, got a little pain, twice daily dressing changes to endure, but I'm breathing, smiling and virtually pain free.
Xx
