Hi,

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 32 and I've had on-and-off problems with healthy anxiety for nearly 10 years now.

Lately for me it's been all about stomach/bowel concerns. I have some quite alarming symptoms, but a bowel specialist has put these down to a minor condition. Most of the time I more or less accept that, but there's always that lingering doubt and every so often it flares up into real panic. For maybe half an hour I become totally convinced I'm dying.

I'm generally quite a calm, self-reliant person, but these fears cause me to fall apart. My worries are always about major, life-threatening issues (as I guess they tend to be for anyone with health anxiety). I became a dad at the beginning of the year and the idea of not being there for my son is the one thing I really can't bear.

I want to get my physical symptoms re-checked as I'm not sure I really explained the full extent of them last time. But irrespective of the outcome of that I know I need to get some help for the anxiety. I know it'll only be a matter of months before I become fixated on something else. Ironically, the main thing that keeps me sane at the moment is the memory of previous 'problems' that turned out to be totally unfounded. It makes it very hard to trust what my body appears to be telling me.
