Quick chest pains

Anyone ever get a shooting quick pain in their chest. It comes and goes. Of course, I know it has to be my heart. On this chat room, everyone said its a muscle spasm, but I didn't think muscle spasms were sharp pains. Any advice would be appreciated.

Of course muscle spasm can be sharp pains, they can be all sorts of pains. Where in your chest are the pains? Heart pains are usually central, under the sternum. Don't know how old you are Shelly, but if you are young, a heart problem is extremely unlikely.
Even if the pains are around your sternum ( breast bone, the bit down the middle at the front between your ribs) it's far more likely to be strains on the bit where your ribs join onto it, this is quite common.

I get these to. of course i always think its to do with my heart, but iv been getting them for ages and im ok.

doctor said its because i tense up.

Thanks for replies. I'm 40, saw cardiologist yesterday, said I'm okay, hard to believe as I hate these pains. They do seem to be on my sternum right under my breasts!
