Hello everyone, so lately my girlfriend passed me a common cold which I'm not particularly bothered about, but for some reason my ears have become blocked and my tinnitus has turned into a whooshing sound.

Feeling a little worried has anyone had this problem before? Does it go away with the cold?

Cheers.

UPDATE IT HAS NOW TURNED INTO A RINGING NOISE. Any help would be appreciated cheers.

I haven't had this but I've had Eustachian tube dysfunction recently which I've learnt is a common side effect of having a cold. It causes the pressure in your inner ears to change which can cause tinnitus. Sounds like it could be what you have.

Maybe that's what it is.. How are your ears doing? Has it eased off yet?

Cheers.

Mines been going on for two and a half months, but it has been getting better. My GP told me it's normal for it to go on this long. I haven't had the tinnitus but lots of ear pressure and dizziness, nausea, headaches from it. Very testing on my anxiety levels but I'm getting there slowly.

Decongestants are meant to help and ibuprofen. I've also been taking antihistamines.

Hope you feel better soon!
