Have been having urinary issues since July. Had a cytoscopy and nothing found so am due to have a pelvic and abdominal
MRI shortly. I'm now getting worried about ovarian cancer as am getting lots of thigh pain and lower abdo pain and constipation and although I suffer from ibs it's not normally constipation but the other!
I asked my urologist about ovarian cancer and she pulled a face and said no symptoms point to that but I am not convinced. It's like she isn't looking in the round and is just looking at the urinary symptoms.
She said the MRI would be of the urethra, do you think it would show any ovarian mass or does it only look at different slices? The letter says MRI abdomen and pelvis
So worried

I understand xx I had terrible urinary issues around Christmas last year and I managed to self diagnose myself with everything going! Like you, I have had abdominal issues too including horrendous constipation! Anxiety can cause these symptoms.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Ovarian cancer is very, very rare in younger women.

If the urologist had ANY concerns at all about yout having Ovarian cancer she wouldn't chance it - it would be more than her job is worth to take chances.

Please try not to worry. I have been where you are and it is horrible *hugs* but you will get through this.

Are you having any help for your anxiety at the moment?

Although she's a urologist, she will have still trained as an all areas doctor before specialising and so I really would trust her when she says don't worry about ovarian cancer.
There are many reasons for urinary problems. Anxiety can make you wee lots too...when I went through a period of high anxiety at 17, I was weeing none stop, so much so that I even saw visible blood! I've had kidney stones since then and that can cause obvious symptoms too, as can IBS as that causes an irritable bladder.
Yes, an mri of the urinary tract will definitely show your ovaries. They will see your whole body from under your breasts to the top of your legs. I had one done too X

Thanks. I don't take anything for anxiety at the moment. I'm 37 so not young :(
I feel so stressed and I know that's just making everything worse.
The urinary issues are largely just pain - aching and sore and have had some post good dripping but the consultant says its all puzzling. The leg pain is a more recent symptom - so achey.
Thank you for your understanding - my MRI is on weds so I suppose if it's something terrible I will know relatively quickly. We are waiting to move house too and waiting to exchange contracts on our house this week to move next week so all the stress is getting on top of me. My pulse keeps racing. Just want to run away!

37 is still young - especially for ovarian cancer. It is rare in women under 55 xx

Have you spoken to your doctor about your anxiety? I have been having talking therapies and medication for about a year now and I am well on my way to recovery (with the odd setback) I am taking Sertraline and it has really helped.

Sounds like you have a lot of stress on at the moment with moving house and this won't be helping :( are you able to talk to your other half about how you feel?

It is really scary feeling like this isn't it? I hate waiting for tests or scans and results. I find it hard to think about anything else and start thinking the worst.

Remember though, anxiety can cause all sorts of strange symptoms in our bodies. It can be hard to do this when you are feeling so stressed, but trying to distract yourself really does help give your mind a rest (even if it doesnt feel like it) when I was at my worst with my health anxiety I used to knit! I found it so soothing.

Let us know how your scan goes and good luck :) you will be just fine, remember - if the urologist was concerned you would know about it! Everything will work out ok
