Hi everyone,

I have several (diagnosed by specialists) autoimmune conditions. For this I have been prescribed some pretty nasty drugs and treatments with a range horrible side effects ranging from anaphylaxis to graft vs host to cancer to alopecia (that I already have but don't want it to get worse). I don't have to take the meds, but it will significantly improve my quality of life.

Anyone in a similar situation? How do you cope?

I take 6 pills in the morning and 5 in the evening. That's not counting pain meds when needed or OTC remedies. I "have" to take most as not doing so would put my life at risk. There are some side effects involved but it is what it is. There are a couple that I don't have to take but the benefits and quality of life far outweigh the side effects.

I recently switched my statin drug due to side effects (muscle ache) and the new drug is better thus far. Often times there are several drugs that treat the same issue. Sometimes, just like with psychotropics, switching can help.

As far as dealing with it? You just do. Many times it sure beats the alternative.
