Meds problem

Hi. Im new on here. I was on 40mg one a day propanalol for 6 weeks. Side effects were bad so I reduced it to half a day for 2 weeks where i was experiencing nightmares. I stopped taking them since 1/1/16. From yesterday (8/1/16) I have started getting mild panick and mild palps. Is this due to coming off the med and shall I stick to going back on half or fight my way through not taking any.
